THE BEAUTY OF CHRISTIANITY

THE BEAUTY OF CHRISTIANITY

The beauty of Christianity is all about the evidence of practicing, reflecting and manifesting the dictates, teaching and life of Christ in the life of a Christian believer.

The word “Christianity” comes from the word “Christ “. The first time the word “Christians” appeared in the Bible was due to the evidence of the practice, reflection and manifestation of the dictates, teaching and life of Christ in the lives of the disciples of Jesus Christ in the early church at Antioch: Acts 11:26  KJV “And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”

Many people think that going to church frequently or simply believing in the existence of God or being born into a Christian family makes them a Christian. But Biblically it is not so! A Christian is someone who has accepted Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Saviour – an individual whose behavior by action from the bottom of his/her heart reflects, manifests the person of Jesus Christ. As mentioned earlier, Christians are the followers of Jesus –  they were first called “Christians” in Antioch.

The reflection and manifestation of the life of Jesus Christ in the lives of Peter and John made people say they (Peter and John) had been with the Lord Jesus Christ: Acts 4:13 KJV  “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”

The beauty of Christianity is following and practicing the dictates, teaching and life of Jesus Christ, that is, ” No Jesus, No Christianity” – Hebrews 12:2  KJV “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”

The beauty of Christianity gives the understanding that Christianity is the way of life. Doing/practicing the ways of God in Christ Jesus makes Christianity beautiful.

The beauty of Christianity can be broken into different components. Different components like the love of God, the peace of God, forgiveness, the weightier matters of the law, manifesting pure religion, personal relationship with God, liberty in Christ Jesus, etc.

BEAUTY OF THE LOVE OF GOD

The number one (1) component of the beauty of Christianity is the love of God demonstrated towards humanity in our sin – Romans 5:8 KJV “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

How can someone commend or demonstrate love towards another fellow human being? It is by giving – and this is exactly what the Almighty did for the world by giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for the sin of the world – John 3:16 KJV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” A Christian believer shows the beauty of Christianity in action by doing God’s ways.

All other religions tell people how to live with people acknowledging the existence of God while Christianity tells Christians of doing the ways of God with people – following, obeying and practicing the dictates, the teaching and life of Christ. Doing the ways of God in Christ Jesus makes Christianity beautiful.

The beauty of Christianity is that every true Christian believes that when you see humanity in man, you have seen God, in fact, we you see man, you have seen God because God created man in His own image and after His own likeness –  Genesis 1:26 KJV  “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:….”

The beauty of Christianity is that you must have to love your enemies – Matthew 5:44  KJV “But I say unto you, Love your enemies…”

The beauty of Christianity is that you must NOT pray that your human enemies should fall down and die by fire or thunder as Jesus never did that – Luke 9:54-56  KJV “And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.”

The beauty of Christianity even goes further on what to do to your enemies: you are to feed them when they are hungry and give them water when they are thirsty – Romans 12:20 KJV  and Proverbs 25:21-22  KJV “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head….If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.”

The beauty of Christianity emphasizes on you as a Christian NOT to curse but bless – you should not even allow corrupt words or foul (abusive) language to come out of your mouth against your fellow human being as man is created in the image of God and after His likeness – Romans 12:14 KJV and Ephesians 4:29 KJV “Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not…. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

The word of God manifests the beauty of Christianity by saying that we should NOT even use any form of derogatory words in our speech – all our words should always be with grace and be seasoned with salt to bless people: Colossians 4:6 KJV  “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”

Christianity is found beautiful because you as a true Christian, you are to bless anybody that curses you; you are not permitted to curse but bless – Matthew 5:44 KJV “…bless them that curse you…”

The beauty of Christianity reveals that every genuinely born again Christian should do good to those who hate you – Matthew 5:44 KJV “…do good to them that hate you”

The beauty of Christianity teaches that Christians are to pray for those who despitefully use you, and persecute you: Matthew 5:44 KJV “..…pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you…”

The beauty of Christianity makes the presence of God real in people’s lives despite the fact that nobody has ever seen God physically before – 1 Timothy 6:16 KJV and 1 John 4:12  KJV “Who (God) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen…..No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”

How can someone make the presence of God real in people’s lives despite the fact that nobody has ever seen God physically before? The answer is provided in Matthew 22:39  KJV “… Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Please read this scripture again because it did NOT say ” Thou shalt love your Christian brethren as thyself ” BUT “thy neighbour”. Who is then your neighbour? Your neighbour could be anybody whether Christian or not – whether Christian or not – whether Christian believer or not – your neighbour could be non-Christian believer, even your enemy! Anybody you have the ability to help is your neighbor.

When you practically demonstrate the love of God towards your neighbour, then you have made the presence of God real in their lives because God loves the sinners but hates the sin in them. God does good to His enemies (the sinners) always: Luke 6:35  “But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” This is the beauty of Christianity because God is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

BEAUTY OF PEACE OF GOD

The God that Christians worship through Jesus Christ is love – God is love : 1 John 4:8, 16  “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love….And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” So another way to practically demonstrate to my neighbors that God is love is to live in peace with them – Romans 12:18 KJV and Hebrews 12:14  KJV  “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men….. Follow peace with all men…”

One of the very simple ways to know the children of God is that they are the peacemakers: Matthew 5:9 KJV “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”

The beauty of Christianity is that a true Christian does not pay evil with evil but with good; the children of God do not overcome evil with evil but with good – and this act or behavior makes them to live in peace with everyone: Romans 12:17, 21 KJV  “Recompense to no man evil for evil…Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

When the angel of the Lord was announcing the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ to the shepherds, there was a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, saying, PEACE on earth: Luke 2:13-14 KJV  “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” That is, Jesus Christ represents PEACE.

When you see Jesus Christ, you have seen “PEACE”. When you talk of Christianity, you are talking of peace. This means that Christianity is a symbol of peace.

One of the components of the beauty of Christianity is peace. If you see or perceive Christianity as a religion, then Christianity is a religion of peace because the Lord Jesus Christ is the Prince of peace: Isaiah 9:6  KJV “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

In Christianity, you don’t force anybody to accept Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Saviour.  While doing evangelism, you don’t force people with violence to become a Christian. The way of God is of peace.

You don’t kill for God for people to become Christians.

You don’t take sword (arms) or use gun bullets to fight for the God that Christians worship through Jesus Christ. The God of Christianity can defend and fight for Himself – Matthew 26:51-53  KJV “And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?”

If you introduce Jesus Christ to somebody to accept Him as his/her personal Lord and Saviour – and such a person refuses, you leave the peace in person and go your way – Luke 10:5, 10 KJV “And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,”

The beauty of peace of God which is one of the components of the beauty of Christianity  gives room to and allows religious tolerance in Christianity.

The blasphemy against God the Holy Spirit is taken care of by God Himself – not for any Christians to kill anyone for blaspheming the Holy Spirit (the third Person of the Trinity – the third Person of God). The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the sin that God may not forgive the believers (not unbelievers) as unbelievers are never born again at all – Matthew 12: 31- 32 KJV “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”

BEAUTY OF FORGIVENESS

No matter how bad or evil someone is, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin – and the sin is forgiven: 1 John 1:7 KJV “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

When it comes to relating to/interacting with one another (human relations), offence must always come – Luke 17:1 KJV “Then said he (Jesus Christ) unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come….”

The beauty of Christianity is that when someone offends you and you are a true child of God (genuine Christian), you forgive. Even in a day, you have to forgive any person that offends 490 times: Matthew 18:21-22  KJV “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

The beauty of Christianity requires the love of God to forgive because love covers multitude of sins –1 Peter 4:8  KJV “And above all things have fervent charity (love) among yourselves: for charity (love) shall cover the multitude of sins.” The test of your Christianity for every individual is forgiveness.

Therefore the word of God says we should forgive one another – Ephesians 4:32  KJV “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

The beauty of Christianity revealed that among the Christians, if there is any dispute(s) that will lead to the lawsuit (the lawsuits among believers) , they are NOT to go to court of law for the settlements because they are to settle the dispute(s) among themselves as they (the Christian believers) will judge the world and  the angels –1 Corinthians 6:1-7  KJV “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?” Between the brethren, in the name of forgiveness for Christ’s sake, the word of God says you are to suffer yourselves to be defrauded – that is, you are to allow yourself to be cheated!

BEAUTY OF THE WEIGHTIER MATTERS OF THE LAW

The beauty of Christianity talks about the weightier matters of the law. The weightier matters of the law are judgment, mercy, and faith: Matthew 23:23 KJV  “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.”  The word “judgment”  is “justice” ; “mercy” is “compassion/kindness ” and “faith” is “faithfulness”

From the above 3 weightier matters of the law, God wants to see these components of the beauty of Christianity manifest in action through our behavior in our individual Christian life:

(1) Virtue/value of justice in our dealing and interaction with people – 2 Samuel 8:15 KJV “And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.”

(2) We are to be merciful – Matthew 5:7 KJV “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”

(3) And we are to be faithful in our Christian activities – Numbers 12:7 KJV “My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.”

BEAUTY OF PURE RELIGION

The beauty of Christianity by pure religion is to demonstrate the humanity in Christianity to the society by visiting the fatherless and widows in their affliction –James 1:27  KJV “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” The beauty of Christianity gives back to the society and makes the presence of God real in the neighborhood.

BEAUTY OF PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

The ultimate in the beauty of Christianity is to have a personal walk and intimate relationship with God on an individual basis. The beauty of Christianity makes you to know God by yourself. You don’t need any pastor to be a medium or middleman between you and God as the Lord Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man – 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV  “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus “ You can know God by yourself – Daniel 11:32 KJV “…..the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” The scripture says those who know their God (not their pastor/General Overseer)!

BEAUTY OF LIBERTY IN CHRIST JESUS

The beauty of Christianity speaks of the liberty in Christ Jesus. That is, the beauty of Christianity is that Christianity is not a cult where you enter and you cannot come out.

In Christianity, you are free to come in and you are as well as free to go out (to leave) if you choose to leave the Christianity unlike some religions or cults where they kill anybody who chooses to leave: Galatians 5:13 KJV  “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

But I want to counsel you: if you have left the faith (Christianity), please come back just like a prodigal son, God is waiting to receive you back! God is not happy that you left the faith (Christianity): Hebrews 10:38  KJV “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”

If anybody chooses to leave a cult or some religious sects, they see the person as infidel (sinner) – and they seek to kill such a person thinking that they have killed the infidel for God! But in Christianity, it is not so because the bible says God has no pleasure in the death of an infidel/ sinner – God demands the infidel (sinner) to repent and comes back to God through Jesus Christ – this is the beauty of Christianity : Ezekiel 33:11 KJV “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked (sinner); but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

The beauty of Christianity tells the infidel/sinner to repent and join the genuinely born again Christians together to go to Heaven.

On a final note, the beauty of Christianity is that there is eternal life in Christ Jesus after we die in Christ to spend our eternity in Heaven –1 Corinthians 15:19 KJV and John 10:28 KJV  “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable…… And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
