Know why the use of ANOINTING OIL for ordination is unbiblical in the NEW TESTAMENT – 2 Corinthians 3:6A and Acts 13:1-4 KJV (part 3)

2 Corinthians 3:6A

“Who (God) also hath made us able ministers of the new testament”

Anointing oil was mentioned twenty (20) times in the Old Testament of the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible but it was never mentioned at all in the New Testament! Why?

Anointing oil was a shadow of the Holy Spirit (the Anointing Himself). Anointing oil is of the Old Testament (Old Covenant) under the Law of Moses. Anointing Oil is a shadow of the substance; and substance is the New Testament anointing.

The New Testament anointing is the Holy Spirit brought forth by the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary. The end-result of the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary is the Holy Spirit (the Anointing Himself)! Praise the Lord!! Hallelujah!!!

Hebrews 10:1 (NIV) and Colossians 2:14-17 (NIV) “The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves…….having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.”

That is, the reality is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Christ is the end of the Law and it was in Jesus Christ that the Law was fulfilled – John 1:17 KJV, Romans 10:4 KJV and Matthew 5:17 KJV John 1:17 (KJV) and Romans 10:4 (KJV) “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ….For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth…Think not that I (Jesus Christ) am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I (Jesus Christ) am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Anointing oil was of the Old Testament, a shadow of the Holy Spirit (the substance) in the New Testament covenant – the dispensation of the Holy Spirit dwelling in the life of a true believer.

Anointing Oil Was a Shadow of the Holy Spirit (the substance)

The Old Testament of the Holy Bible represents and uses shadows while the New Testament is the substance (reality).

If you carefully study all the 39 books of the Old Testament, you would discover that in the whole Old Testament, there no mention of the Name ‘Jesus’ but by looking at every shadow, the substance of it is the Lord Jesus Christ revealed in the New Testament.

In the Old Testament, manna was a shadow of Jesus: John 6:48 – 49, 58 KJV “I (Jesus Christ) am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead… This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.”

Another one is “Sabbath”. Sabbath was a shadow of Jesus: Matthew 12:8 KJVFor the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.”

Still another example of shadow of the Old Testament pointing to the substance/reality (the Lord Jesus Christ) is serpent raised in the wilderness, that is, serpent raised by Moses in the wilderness: John 3:14 KJV “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up”

Furthermore, water coming from a rock also in the wilderness: 1Corinthians 10:4 KJV “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”

All the shadows of the Old Testament are of the Lord Jesus Christ (the substance). Even sacrifices and offerings of the Old Testament were the shadows pointing to the Lord Jesus Christ, the substance (reality) of the New Testament: Ephesians 5:2 KJV “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.”

Do you know that the first fruit in the Old Testament is one of the shadows?

In the New Testament, it is revealed that the first fruit is a shadow in the Old Covenant while the Lord Jesus Christ is the substance (reality): 1 Corinthians 15:20,23 KJVBut now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept…But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming”.

Do know that the laws of tithing (tithes), feasts, etc, are all shadows of Jesus? Hallelujah! Even The Ten Commandments and all the laws in the Old Testament are the shadow of Jesus Christ (the substance/reality) – Matthew 5:17 KJV “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” It is in Jesus Christ that all the laws are fulfilled! Praise!! the Lord! Hallelujah!!!

Do you know that all the godly Bible Characters in the Old Testament are shadows of our Lord Jesus Christ? Even people life’s narrated in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible like Isaac, Jacob known as Israel, Benjamin, Joseph, Judah, Jonah, Hosea, etc are all shadows of Jesus Christ.

The Bible (the word of God) from the first verse in Genesis to the last verse in Revelation, in its entirety is all about One Person (Jesus Christ) and Jesus is the word of God personified: John 5:39 KJV, John 1:14 KJV and Revelation 19:13 KJV “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me (Jesus Christ)… And the Word (Jesus Christ) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth… his name is called The Word of God.” And this is the main reason why God said He magnifies His word (Jesus Christ) than His Name – Psalms 138:2 KJV “for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”

Now to have a better understanding in order to appreciate the finished works of our Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary and to always thank God and give Him the deserved glory for the gift of the Holy Spirit for every true Christian believer, let us see how anointing oil was used in the Old Testament.

Anointing Oil in the Old Testament

The books of the Law – Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers explained in detail everything you need to know about Anointing Oil in the Old Testament.

If you read and study with deep understanding, you will discover that anointing oil was made from ingredients instructed by God Himself to Moses. Let us read Exodus 30: 23 – 24 NKJV “Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.”

From this scripture, divine instruction was given to Moses by God on how to make anointing oil in the Old Testament. Now, let us use our brain to think critically in line with the word of God as regards what is called anointing oil in this dispensation of the Holy Spirit under the New Testament. In this church age, in your church denomination, what is this anointing oil of yours made of and who instructed you or your General Overseer/pastor to make one?

In the Bible, the holy anointing oil was first mentioned and introduced to Israel (Jews) by God Himself.

Furthermore, in the Old Testament, God gave instructions on how to use the anointing oil and its purposes:

  • Anointing oil was used to anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the covenant ark (the ark of the Testimony) according to Exodus 30:26 NKJV “With it (anointing oil) you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony.” You would find this in the Jewish temple.
  • Anointing oil was used to anoint the table and the table and all utensils, the lampstands and its utensils and the altar of incense according to Exodus 30:27 NKJV “ the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense.” You would find this in the Jewish temple.
  • Anointing oil was used to anoint the altar of burnt offering with its utensils and the laver and its base according to Exodus 30:28 NKJV “the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base.” You would find this in the Jewish temple.
  • Anointing oil was used to anoint the priesthood, Aaron and his sons for them to minister to God as Priests according to Exodus 30:30 NKJV “And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me (God) as priests.”

Let us read and study further by digging deep into the commands God gave about the use of the anointing oil in the Old Testament under the Law of Moses:

  1. The anointing oil shall not be poured on man’s flesh – Exodus 30:32 NKJV “It shall not be poured on man’s flesh…” This is how New International Version (NIV) put it – Exodus 30:32 NIV “Do not pour it on anyone else’s body…” For a better understanding, (New Living Translation) NLT put it like this: Exodus 30:32 NLT “It must never be used to anoint anyone else…”
  1. The anointing oil shall not be made any other like it, according to its composition – Exodus 30:32 NKJV “…nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.” This is how New International Version (NIV) put it – Exodus 30:32 NIV “…and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.” For a better understanding, (New Living Translation) NLT put it like this: Exodus 30:32 NLT “…and you must never make any blend like it for yourselves. It is holy, and you must treat it as holy.”

Therefore anointing oil was not for personal use according to the above scripture under the Law of Moses in the Old Testament.

God commanded in Exodus 30:33 that whoever prepares perfume or mixes perfume any like it (the anointing oil) must be cut off from the community of people – Exodus 30:33 NKJV “Whoever compounds (prepares or mixes) any like it, or whoever puts any of it (anoints) on an outsider, shall be cut off from his people.”

The interpretation of this scripture (Exodus 30:33 NKJV) in the New Testament is whoever or anyone disobeys shall cease to be called the true “child of God”, “Children of God”, “Sons of God”, “the church of the Living God”, “the church of Christ”, “the Bride of Christ.”

This means that many churches and their members due to their spiritual ignorance and lack of knowledge have disobeyed God by preparing, mixing anointing oils and using them for anointing, using them for the various purposes not instructed by God.

This means that many have been spiritually cut off from the community of God’s people and the Bible says God’s people are destroyed/perished for lack of knowledge; and it is not good for the soul of a Christian believer not to be without knowledge and it is through knowledge the just/righteous (the born again) shall be delivered – and you shall know the truth, the truth (the word of God) shall make you free: Hosea 4:6 NKJV, Isaiah 5:13 NKJV, Proverbs 19:2 NKJV, Proverbs 11:9 NKJV and John 8:32 NKJV “My people (God’s people; NOT Satan’s people) are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge….Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished…it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge… But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered…And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

By disobeying God’s instruction and using it (anointing oil), it means you are telling God that the Holy Spirit is not sufficient or enough for you in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit under the New Testament – and due to your lack of knowledge (spiritual ignorance), you are despising the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary. You have every opportunity to repent now as the time of ignorance God overlooks – Acts 17:30 NKJV “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.”

The purposes of anointing oil in the Old Testament were not for personal use at all and take note that not every person was allowed to touch it for it was holy as God commanded.

In this dispensation of the Holy Spirit under the New Testament, it is unscriptural, unbiblical, and unchristian to use anointing oil. But it is unfortunate that many Christians are preparing, mixing, selling and buying anointing oils.

This man-made anointing oil under the New Testament, I believe it is not of God but demonic as Satan has taken advantage of their disobedience to the word of God on the purposes and use of the anointing oil recommended and commanded by God for Holy use only in the Old Testament.

Once again, this man-made anointing oil which is spiritually demonic in nature is NOT for personal use but many ignorant Christians are making various forms of anointing oils for themselves, selling and buying them for themselves – and anybody can touch and own them for they are not Holy but demonic.

Remember that according to God’s instruction in the book of Exodus 30:26-33, no other man except Moses was/had been instructed by God to make anointing oil.

The anointing oil in the Old Testament is a shadow while the Holy Spirit is the substance due to the finished works of Christ at the Cross of Calvary.

Therefore, anointing oil was of an Old Testament shadow of the Anointing Himself, the Holy Spirit, revealed in the New Testament under the New Covenant.

Every command and shadow pertaining its purpose, use, preparation/making, etc, reveals the Holy Spirit in the New Testament.

Once you are genuinely born again, the Lord Jesus Christ breathes on you to receive the Holy Spirit – and this spiritual experience had never happened in the Old Testament; it is only for the true Christians in the New Testament: John 20:22 KJV “And when he (Jesus Christ) had said this, he breathed on them (His disciples), and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit).”

The reason for the New Testament is Jesus Christ who is the substance: Colossians 2:17 KJV and Hebrews 10:1 KJV “Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body (substance) is of Christ… For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.”

The anointing oil of the Old Testament is the shadow of the substance of the Holy Spirit of the New Testament.

Anointing Oil in the New Testament

The church started after the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The New Testament or the New Covenant was established to replace the Old Covenant (Old Testament) after the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To another level after the death, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, it happened on the Day of Pentecost that the Holy Spirit came to live (dwell) inside the true Christian believers (the born again) and is  staying permanently in this world until when the rapture will take place .

The Promise (the Holy Spirit) came to dwell in humans – the Promise to dwell inside the genuinely born again Christians, the Anointing Himself; the Holy Spirit is fulfilled in the New Testament – Luke 24:49 KJV Acts 1:4 KJV, and Acts 2:33 KJV “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high…And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me…Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.” The word “the Holy Ghost’ in this scripture means the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the anointing in the New Testament. This is the reason why that in the entire New Testament (New Covenant) there is no mention or use of the anointing oil by the Christian Believers.

What was mentioned in the New Testament is just “oil” (not the anointing oil). As mentioned earlier, the anointing oil of the Old Testament under the Law of Moses is the shadow that had been replaced by the substance of third Person in Trinity – the Person Himself who happened to be the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, if the Holy Spirit is dwelling in you as a genuinely born again Christian, and you have received the Holy Ghost Baptism (the infilling power of the Holy Spirit), just have this spiritual understanding that you have been baptized with the Holy Spirit (in anointing) which means that you have been anointed – and you are anointed one.

When you are genuinely born again, it is God Himself Who anointed you: 2 Corinthians 1:21 KJV “Now he (God) which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God.”

In the New Testament, all the true Christian believers (the genuinely born again) are anointed with the Holy Spirit by God Himself.  This scripture did not mention that it is your pastor who anoints you with the Holy Spirit and makes or establishes you to stand firm in Christ; it is God as He is the One who anointed the Lord Jesus Christ also – Acts 10:38 KJV “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

It is the Holy Spirit (Anointing Himself), the Power (the Power of God in action), the anointing upon (the infilling power of the Holy Spirit) makes you become “the anointed” child of God in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person in Trinity, the Personality who works signs, miracles and wonders in the Name of Jesus.

The ministers of the Old Testament were the shadows of the able ministers of the New Testament because God chose man (e.g. Moses) to use the anointing oil to anoint them (the ministers of the Old ministers) whereby the anointing oil was to serve as the symbol of the Holy Spirit while God Himself anointed the able ministers of the New Testament with the Holy Spirit (the substance) as He (God) anointed the Lord Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit – 2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV, 2 Corinthians 1:21 KJV and Acts 10:38 KJV “Who (God) also hath made us able ministers of the new testament… Now he which… in Christ….hath anointed us, is God….How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: “

The Holy Spirit (the substance) by Christ Jesus of the New Testament has permanently replaced the anointing oil (the shadow) of the Old Testament.
