Know why the ANOINTING OIL of the OLD TESTAMENT is totally different from the ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OF THE NEW TESTAMENT – John 20:22 KJV (part 4)

John 20:22 KJV

“And when he (Jesus Christ) had said this, he breathed on them (His disciples), and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit).”

As explained before in the precious publication, the anointing of the Old Testament under the Law of Moses is completely different from the Holy Spirit Himself as direct anointing of the New Testament.

This means that there two types of anointing – (1) the Old Testament’s anointing oil prepared in line with divine instruction by the persons chosen by God and (2) the New Testament’s anointing, the Holy Spirit Himself as the result of the finished of the Lord Jesus Christ by His Blood at the Cross of Calvary.

Reading and studying throughout the entire books of the New Testament of the Bible (King James Version KJV), you will discover that the word “oil” appeared in eleven (11) times – and nowhere the word “anointing oil”, that is, you can never come across the word “anointing oil” in the New Testament:

(1) Matthew 25:3 KJV “They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them”

(2)  Matthew 25:4 KJV “But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.”

(3) Matthew 25:8 KJV “And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.”

(4)Mark 6:13 KJV “And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.”

(5)Luke 7:46 KJV “My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.”

(6)Luke  10:34 KJV “And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

(7) Luke 16:6 KJV”And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.”

(8) Hebrews 1:9 KJV “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

(9) James 5:14 KJV “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

(10) Revelation 6:6 KJV “And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”

(11)  Revelation 18:13 KJV “And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.”

If you study your Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit, the best teacher, you will discover to understand that Mary did not use anointing oil to anoint the Lord Jesus Christ’s feet but the word of God says Mary used a pound of expensive ointment made from pure ointment of spikenard: John 12:3 KJV “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.” According to the divine instruction in respect of the making/production and use of anointing oil in the Old Testament under the Law of Moses, it is impossible for Mary to touch anointing oil because it was Holy and anointing oil was not recommended by God to be poured on “man’s flesh”.

Let us dig deep into James 5:14 KJV “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” The word of God says the church elders are to pray over the sick and anoint them with oil (not anoint them with anointing oil) in the name of the Lord.

Once again, what James 5:14 KJV mentioned is oil; it is not anointing oil for church elders to use. Even under the Law of Moses the church elders are not qualified to touch God’s anointing oil. They (church elders) cannot touch the anointing oil God instructed Moses to make.

During the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus in Mark 6:13 KJV, His disciples used oil (not anointing oil) to anoint the sick and heal them. They did not use anointing oil to anoint the sick and heal them.

Careful study of the New Testament shows that the Lord Jesus Christ never used anointing oil, even His disciples/apostles never used anointing oil!!!

The Holy Spirit is the New Testament anointing that has completely replaced the production and use of the anointing oil of the Old Testament.

In this church age under the dispensation of the Holy Spirit, the making and use of the anointing oil is purely unchristian practice. Since there is no vacuum in the spirit realm, therefore those who are using oil as anointing oil in the New Testament are opening themselves to demons and practice of witchcraft.

The only use of oil (not anointing oil) in the New Testament/New covenant in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit is for church elders to pray for the sick – there is no other use in the New Testament.

In the Old Testament, anointing oil is just the symbol for the Holy Spirit.

As a genuinely born again Christian, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, and as long as you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you and you have been baptized with the Holy Ghost (Holy Ghost Baptism), you are divinely anointed, for the Holy Spirit Himself is the anointing (the infilling power of God upon you).

In the books of the Old Testament (King James Version KJV), anointing oil is mentioned twenty (20) times.

It is used in the Old Testament to anoint priests and other vessels in the tabernacle by pouring it on the head of the high priest and his descendants and sprinkling the tabernacle and its furnishings to mark (consecrate) them as holy and set apart them apart for the Lord’s use: Exodus 25:6 KJV, Leviticus 8:30 KJV and Number 4:16 KJV  “Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense…And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons’ garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him…And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.”

Still in the books of the Old Testament (King James Version KJV), three (3) times anointing oil is called the “holy, anointing oil,” and generally the Jews in the Old Testament under the Law of Moses were strictly forbidden from reproducing it for personal/private use: Exodus 30: 32 -33 KJV “Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it [is] holy, [and] it shall be holy unto you. Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.”

Once more, the words  “ANOINTING OIL” mentioned 20 times in Scripture  (KJV) in the Old Testament but never mentioned at all in the New Testament! Exodus  25:6, Exodus  29:7, Exodus  29:21, Exodus  30:25, Exodus  30:31, Exodus  31:1, Exodus  35:8, Exodus  35:15, Exodus  35:28, Exodus  37:29, Exodus  39:38, Exodus  40:9, Leviticus  8:2 , Leviticus  8:10, Leviticus  8:12, Leviticus  8:30, Leviticus  10:7, Leviticus  21:10, Leviticus  21:12,  and Numbers  4:16.

In the Old Testament under the Law of Moses, things, places, and persons, in fact vessels to be used in the temples are anointed for sanctification to make them holy, to set them apart for a holy use of God.

In the Old Testament, there is no Biblical account that the kings of Israel and Judah were anointed with the anointing oil but habitual anointing the king at the beginning of his reign was done with only oil (not with the anointing oil).

In the New Testament, once a true Christian believer (genuinely born again) has both the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit within/inside and infilling power of the Holy Spirit upon through the Holy Ghost baptism, God Himself always anoints with spiritual anointing of such a believer – 2 Corinthians 1:21 KJV “Now he (God) which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God.”

In the New Testament, all the true Christian believers (the genuinely born again) are anointed with the Holy Spirit by God Himself.  This scripture did not mention that it is your General Overseer/pastor who anoints you with the Holy Spirit and makes or establishes you to stand firm in Christ; it is God as He is the One who anointed the Lord Jesus Christ also – Acts 10:38 KJV “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

Your General Overseer/pastor has no capacity to anoint you with the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit), but it is only God who has the only capacity to anoint every genuinely born again Christian with the Holy Spirit for them to be Holy Spirit filled. This is the reason why no General Overseer/pastor should be a medium or middleman between a born again Christian and God as the Lord Jesus Christ is the only mediator between man and God –  – 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”

Therefore do everything possible to know God for yourself through the Holy Spirit that has been given to you when you are born again and have this spiritual understanding that you have been anointed with the Holy Spirit by God.

In the New Testament, anointing oil is never used in relation to appointment to ministerial office in the early church in the Bible. But it is “laying on of hands” recommended in the New Testament for the appointment to ministerial office.

To prove that it is unbiblical, unchristian, for the Christian believers to use the anointing oil in the New Testament for the ordination or appointment to ministerial office, it is mentioned three (3) times in the New Testament the laying on of hands in relation to appointment to office:

Number one (1): the apostles commissioned (ordained) the Seven by the laying on of hands: Acts 6:6 KJVWhom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.”

Number two (2):  in the early Christian church, the teachers and prophets at Antioch laid hands on Paul and Barnabas at their commissioning for ministry to the Gentiles: Acts 13:3 KJV “And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”

Number three (3): Paul gave instruction to Timothy to be cautious/careful in commissioning local church leaders by the laying on of hands: 1 Timothy 5:22 KJV “Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.”

The use of the anointing oil as a Christian practice is never mentioned to be used in the ordination/ in relation to appointment to ministerial office in the New Testament. That is, New Testament appointments to ministry do not involve the use of the anointing oil because the chosen Christian believers for the appointment into ministerial office in the New Testament are not the ministers of the Old Testament but the able ministers of the New Testament – : 2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV “Who (God) also hath made us able ministers of the new testament…”

The anointing of the Holy Spirit should be modeled directly after the pattern of the New Testament.

The reasons why almost all the pastors ignore God’s instruction that anointing oil must never be used to anoint anyone on “man’s flesh”:

(1) Ignorance/lack of spiritual understanding that the anointing oil is not needed in the New Testament because of the Holy Spirit that has given to the Christian believers when they are genuinely born again and when they receive the Holy Ghost baptism

(2) Commercialization of the anointing oil for money-making: the anointing oil is used for commercial purpose to make money by many pastors and churches. Even, if they know this truth, some of them will still continue as a result of the financial gain they are benefiting from it.

It is a wrong doctrine or doctrinal error to say that a genuinely born again Christian will not have crises in life.

Many prosperity gospel pastors / preachers say once you give your life to Christ that is end of crises in your Christian life. They say a life without Christ is a life of crises.  This is a wrong teaching in Christianity because the Lord Jesus Christ says in the world, we Christians shall have tribulation – and Apostle Paul says it is through much tribulation we shall enter the kingdom of God: John 16:33 KJV and Acts 14:22 KJV ” These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world…Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”

God allows crises in terms of life challenges/problems in the life of a true Christian believer because every Christian that will be strong and do exploits for God will need the anointing of the Holy Spirit to function –  the enabling power of God to carry out divine assignment.  It is the crises that God does use to break Christians (His true disciples) in order for them to be qualified for great exploits.

Every Christian that God will use to do great works, that is, that their great works that will glorify the Name of God must surely pass through the process of brokenness. If you are not broken, you will never be qualified to be used of God for greater works.

Brokenness brings forth “great” anointing of the Holy Spirit (the enabling power of God).

Anything that Lord Jesus Christ uses, He always breaks them – Mark 6:41 KJV, Mark 8:6 KJV, Mark 14:22 KJV and Luke 9:16 KJV “And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all… And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people….And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body… Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.”

God set up the process of brokenness for every Christian that will do great exploits for Him (God). It is a phase that such a Christian believer must pass through and that phase is the fire of life (trial of faith) so that the end-product of this will bring forth great anointing of the Holy Spirit like gold in the life of such a Christian believer.

A Christian believer to be used for great exploits or extra ordinary works of God must undergo the integrity test of character that will bring forth anointing that expresses the true nature/character in the life of such a true Christian believer – Job 23:10 KJV “But he (God) knoweth the way that I take: when he (God) hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

You must have to pass through the phase of brokenness before He (God) will give your great anointing and use you for greater worker as a vessel of God: John 14:12 KJV and 2 Timothy 2:20 -21 KJV “Verily, verily, I (Jesus Christ) say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father… But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”

The gold must pass through the “fire” process that requires the furnace which is brokenness, the same process for the Christian believer to receive anointing for the works of God as every believer is a Levite (priest by the royal priesthood in 1 Peter 2: 9, Revelation 1:6 and Revelation 5:10 KJV) in the dispensation of the Holy Ghost in the New Testament Christianity: Proverbs 27:21 KJV and Malachi 3:3 KJV “As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise…And he (God) shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.”

When you come to the end of yourself (surrender all to God, most especially pride becomes zero), this is brokenness and anointing of the Holy Spirit comes mightily upon you for divine assignment here on the earth. No brokenness, no  great anointing for great exploits.

This brokenness comes through the instrument of crises (challenges/problems) in the life of a Christian believer that God will sure for greater works or great exploits that glorify the Name of God in Christ Jesus.
