Know Why “ANOINTING OIL” is not written in the New Testament, even in JAMES 5:14 KJV (part 2)
James 5:14-16 KJV
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
KEY VERSES: James 5:14-15 KJV “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
Who are elders of the church? The elders of the church are the spiritual leaders of the local churches, the ordinary religious teachers of the congregation of the local assembly, the officers of the church entrusted with its spiritual interests like deacons, or the shepherds of the flock.
In the Scripture above, look at the phrase “anointing him with oil” – it did NOT say “anointing him with anointing oil” but it mentioned anointing with oil (NOT anointing with anointing oil).
The prosperity gospel pastors always refer to this oil as anointing oil! They see and qualify this oil as anointing oil to be used and applied on the sick which is not what actually heals the sick.
The key verse in the Scripture says “the prayer of faith shall save the sick.” For a second time, in the following verse (James 5:16 KJV) the Bible says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” This implies and shows that the focus is not to be on oil but prayer in the name of Jesus.
The oil being used as point of contact to influence people’s faith is only a soothing balm commonly applied on the sick in the eastern part of the world. With the spiritual understanding of what the Lord Jesus Christ said in Mark 16:17 -18 KJV (“And these signs will follow those who believe(the genuinely born again Christians): In My name (in Jesus Name) they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”), the use of oil is optional and not compulsory at all because the Lord Jesus Christ did not mention the use of oil in His statement in Mark 16:17 – 18 KJV.
Now let look at the exploit of the Apostle Peter for an example whereby he did not use oil in his earthly ministry. In Acts 9:32-33 NKJV (“Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.”).
Aeneas lived in Lydda. Peter went down to see him (Aeneas) who was bedridden for eight (8) years and he (Apostle Peter) did not use oil on him. He (Peter) just turned to him and said, “Aeneas, Christ Jesus maketh thee whole: arise and make thy bed.” He didn’t use oil and Aeneas got healed. Therefore, it is optional for those who will choose to use oil; it is not compulsory. From James 5:14-16 KJV, you will also discover that even the use of oil (not anointing oil) was restricted only to healing, especially the very sick.
Unfortunately, these days in prosperity gospel churches, you find anointing oil and its uses in many other ways! The prosperity gospel pastors use anointing oil to anoint their ministers. During the ordination, they use anointing oil for the ordination. Where did they get the example from in the New Testament? Was it from the Lord Jesus Christ? Capital NO! The Lord Jesus Christ didn’t anoint His disciples (the apostles) with anointing oil.
We are able ministers of the New Testament (not the ministers of the Old Testament) – 2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV “Who (God) also hath made us able ministers of the new testament…”
Where did they get these examples from under the New Covenant/New Testament? The apostles did not anoint their under-ministers or under-shepherds with the anointing oil in the New Testament which is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit, the church age.
When Paul and Barnabas were being ordained and commissioned for a missionary journey as the ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ, did elders of the church anoint them with the anointing oil? Capital NO! What did they do? They fasted and prayed, and they laid their hands upon them, prayed and released them into the mission field under the unction of the Holy Spirit: Acts 13: 1- 3 NKJV “Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”
If you study your Bible carefully, you will discover that that Apostle Paul did not anoint anybody with oil! For instance, when Apostle Paul took Timothy to be with him in the ministry, he (Apostle Paul) did not anoint him (Timothy) with the anointing oil. Even Titus and other ones were not anointed with the anointing oil during the ordination into the ministry.
When the prosperity gospel pastors use anointing oil in their different denominational churches to anoint their ministers to serve God in various capacities, to anoint some church members as workers that will serve as ushers in ushering department, to anoint some individuals that will sweep the ground in the sanitation department because they say that is also a ministry, is this practice biblical in the New testament? Where did they get it from in the New Testament?
God made us the able ministers of the New Testament (not the ministers of the Old Testament) – 2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV “Who (God) also hath made us able ministers of the new testament…”
This unbiblical/unchristian practice in the New Testament reality is of strange spirit in this church age under the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. The prosperity gospel churches and some other churches that lack this spiritual understanding even conduct anointing services. They open themselves to demons/strange spirit! Remember that there is no vacuum in the spirit realm.
The unnoticed error or mistake is that because it is working and people are getting result(s), therefore they think it is of God or the Holy Spirit who is the power of God is the One in action performing the miracles.
In the name of the use of anointing oil, most especially during the special anointing service, these commercial/charlatan pastors use packaged miracle show to brainwash the church members. Why? It is because once someone performs a ‘miracle’ with the “anointing oil” people are attracted there without even taking the time to do their homework.
It is high time you stopped falling for pastors’ tricks of performing miracles, signs and wonders with the anointing oil; these are not genuine or real, but just a mere make-believe world of packaged testimonies with the anointing oil.
Because you are doing it with the anointing oil and getting results does not mean it is scriptural or biblical or God is the One doing it by the anointing oil: Deuteronomy 13:1 – 3 KJV “If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods (like the use of the anointing oil in the New Testament under the dispensation of the Holy Spirit), which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
In reality, witches, wizards, necromancers, native doctors, stargazers /astrologers , magicians, sorcerers, etc do get results of miracles, signs and wonders in the coven and in the public: Exodus 7: 10 -12 KJV and Matthew 24:24 KJV “So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents…..For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Every strange spirit in the name of the use of the anointing oil in the New Testament under the dispensation of the Holy Spirit in this church age must be expelled from the practice of true Christianity.
