The Valentine’s Day is not a crime in the world at all for the people of the world. Encyclopedia or history book reveals that Valentine’s Day is an ancient Roman festival. The whole world welcomes it; embraces it; and celebrates it yearly.

This is one of the innocuous inventions by the devil to poison a true believer in the world, especially the unmarried – to defile themselves in the worldly affairs by being spiritually blind and not considering the hidden wrong side of it. So believers watch out! The whole ploy of the devil is to defile the believers (the Body of Christ) if they are careless, not vigilant and not as wise as serpent in the world (Matthew 10:16 “…….be wise as serpents…..) in the end times as the second coming of the Lord Jesus is at hand (rapture). This is the right time to critically look at the heart of the Valentine’s Day. What is the meaning of Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day evolved from a mix of Christian and ancient Roman traditions: if Satan cannot get you as an enemy, he will come to you as a friend- Nehemiah 4:7, 11 “ But  it came to pass, that when  Sanballat, and  Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then, they were very wroth…….And our adversaries said, They shall  not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them and cause the work to cease.” Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14 each year and often referred to as Saint Valentine’s Day. The world system called it “Lovers’ Day”. However, this not found in the Bible, it is enemy’s snare for true believers. The genesis (source) of Valentine’s Day is based on legend and – is not based on fact. The Valentine’s Day is rooted in paganism!

Numerous early Christian martyrs were named valentine. The Catholic Church recognized three martyred St.Valentines.  The Valentines honored on February 14 are both valentine of Rome and valentine of Temi.

St. Valentine of Rome was persecuted as a Christian and interrogated by Roman Emperor Claudius 11 in person. Claudius was impressed by Valentine to get him to convert to Roman paganism in order to save his life. Valentine had a discussion with him, attempting to get him to convert to Roman paganism in order to save his life. But Valentine refused (Acts 4: 12, John 9:4-5 John 14: 6 and Exodus 20:1-5) and tried to convert Emperor Claudius to Christianity instead. Because of this, he was executed about 269 AD.

Before his execution, he was reported to have performed a miracle by healing the blind daughter of his jailer. As a result of this, there was a deep relationship between this healed daughter of his jailer and him while he was still in the prison. It was a sacred (holy) relationship, just exactly like the way virgin Mary- the earthly mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, was engaged to Joseph in Mathew 1:18.

Both never committed any form of sexual immorality which is the order of the day now as people celebrate Valentine’s Day (Hebrew 13:4 and 1Corintians 7:1-2, 7-9). Furthermore, it was gathered that Valentine was portrayed as a priest who refused an unattested law to Roman Emperor Claudius 11 allegedly ordering that young men remain single. The Emperor supposedly did this to grow his army, believing that married men did not make good soldiers. The priest Valentine, however, secretly performs marriage ceremonies; when Claudius 11 found out this, he had Valentine arrested and thrown into jail.

Unconfirmed source had it that on the evening before valentine was to be executed (martyred), he would have written the first “valentine”  card , addressed to the jailer’s daughter whom he had already developed a deep relationship (affection) for,  and healed  or both. It was a note that read “From your valentine”. He was martyred and buried via  Flaminia. His relics are at the Whitefriar Street, Carmelite church in Dublin, Ireland.

Valentine of Temi became Bishop of Interamma (modern Temi) about 197 AD. He helped Christians escaped from Roman prisons during the rise in persecution of Christians. He is said to have been martyred during the persecution under Emperor Aurelian. He was buried on the Via Flamina on February 14.

The catholic Encyclopedia also speaks of a third Saint named Valentine who was mentioned in early martyrologies under date of February 14. He was martyred in African with a number of companions, but nothing more is known about him.

No romantic elements were present in the original early medieval (connected with the Middle Ages- the period between about AD 1100 and 1500) biographies of either of these Martyrs. By the time a Saint Valentine became linked to romance in 14th century, distinctions between Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Temi were utterly lost. It is unbiblical to revere a man. The only person to be reverend is God – it is reserved for God alone (not human being) – Psalms 111:9 “He (God) sent redemption unto his people: he (God) hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

In the year 496, Pope Gelasius (the head of the Roman Catholic Church) declared February 14 to be Saint Valentine’s Day. But the Bible actually forbids the celebration of Valentine’s Day as it is rooted in paganism.

Did you know that the Valentine’s Day had been completely deleted from the Roman calendar?

It is good for every true believer to seek for knowledge so that the devil will not take the advantage of his ignorance. God says, it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge and by knowledge the just ( believer) shall be delivered- Proverb 19:2 and Proverb 11:9 “ Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge ……….through knowledge the righteous will be delivered” . God says further that His people (not evil people) are destroyed / perished for lack of knowledge; because the devil sees lack of knowledge (ignorance) as one of the believers’ weakness, so he (Satan) capitalizes on it to destroy believers – remember that one of Satan’s three-fold ministry is to destroy – Hosea 4:6 and John 10:10 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…….. The thief does ….. Come ……to steal, and to kill, and to destroy ….”

The ultimate aim of the devil is to destroy in harmless way any believer who lacks knowledge. God says anything, any practice that you do not find in the Bible  there is no light (life) in it and because you are in the world not of the world, He said you should stop doing it; you should delete it from your life – Isaiah 8:20 and John 17:11, 14,16 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them……….these  are in the world………they are not of the world just as I am not of the world.”

Every true Christian lives by the word of God – Matthew 4:4 KJV “But he (Jesus Christ) answered and said, It is written, Man shall…….by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” True believers do not do or practice what is for the world and what the world is doing or practicing: to the true believers (the pure), they do not join the multitudes to do or practice the things of the world because all things are pure to them since they (believers) are pure themselves. So delete the things of the world (the practice of the world) from your life – Exodus 23:2, Titus 1:15 and Romans 14:20  “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil……….to the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is  pure…….the work of God……….All things indeed are pure.”

Saint Valentine’s Day, commonly shortened to Valentine’s Day; and today also popularly known as “Lover’s Day” is an annual event held on February 14. The world is using it to celebrate love and affection between intimate companions. As mentioned earlier, the day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine, and was established by Pope Gelasius in 496 AD. It was deleted from the General Roman Calendar of Saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI.

It is traditionally a day in the world system, the worldly lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “Valentines”).

The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, which the tradition of courtly love flourished.

In the ancient Athenian calendar, the period between mid-January and mid- February was the month of Gamelion, dedicated to the sacred marriage of Zeus and Hera. This is just complete pagan practice ( paganism).

Festival of Juna February (in ancient Rome) meaning “Juno the purifier” or “the chaste Juno” was celebrated in February13-14. The devil has hijacked the Valentine’s Day that had been deleted from the General Roman calendar of saints to lure people to sexuality, immorality, lust and carnality.

Let us critically examine the theories/speculation around Valentine’s Day. Christians claim that Valentine’s Day falls on the death of St. Valentine.  Others claim that the holiday is a christianized version of the pagan LUPERCALIA festival. This festival was an ancient Roman celebration of the official beginning of spring held in February. Lupercalia festival is a fertility ritual and celebration honoring the founders – Remus and Romulus.

However, in 496AD, Pope Gelasius turned   Lupercalia (a fertility celebration) into a Christian feast day. This is in honour of Saint Valentine, a Roman martyr who lived in the 3rd century.

St.  Valentine is seen as a romantic figure and became the most popular Saint in England and France during the middle age. This led to the popularity of Valentine’s Day Celebration. It is not for true Christians!

Never you participate in the pagan celebration of the Valentine’s Day because it is rooted in paganism but on the surface covered with Christian name “Saint” Valentine – Deuteronomy 12:30-31 NKJV “take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.”

Anything idolatry is paganism. Scripturally, celebration of the Valentine’s Day is idolatry for Christians, therefore flee from it if really you are a true child of God – 1 Corinthians 10:14 NKJV “ Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.”
