HOW PROSPERITY GOSPEL PASTORS TWIST BIBLE TO MAKE MONEY FROM PEOPLE –  GALATIANS 3:14 (PART 3)

Galatians 3:14 ”That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

The above scripture has been twisted by the prosperity gospel pastors to mean money. They misinterpreted and misapplied this scripture to get money from the gullible church members. They used the first half of verse of the scripture to mean money and material blessings but what the verse of the second half is saying is spiritual blessings – Galatians 3:14B “….that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Prosperity gospel, the gospel of “ Name it and claim it”.

The Abrahamic covenant is a means to money and material possession by the prosperity gospel pastors. This is absolutely false teaching to get money from the church members!

The prosperity gospel pastors have become rich at the expense of their congregation. The prosperity gospel pastors/ preachers have written many manipulative books to cajole, swindle, defraud and scam their congregation of their hard earned money!

The prosperity gospel pastors teach their church members that in order to receive divine blessings from God; they have to first give money and material things to the church.

But this is not what the Bible teaches. Peter the apostle said to Simon the sorcerer, who offered him money in order to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit: “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!” (Acts 8:20). Apostle Peter never preached the prosperity gospel!

Do you know that you don’t need to be righteous before you get rich and wealthy- Jeremiah 12:1 NKJV “Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously?”

Do you know that even a fool can have prosperity? Read Proverbs 1:32 “….the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.”

The fools who are having material and money prosperity don’t even know God! They even say there is no God in their heart – Psalms 14:1 ”The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God… “Therefore money and material prosperity is not a measure of your personal walk and intimate relationship with God in Christ Jesus.

Now let us look at the origin of prosperity gospel.

THE ORIGIN OF PROSPERITY GOSPEL

Late 19th and early 20th-century background,  according to historian Kate Bowler, the prosperity gospel was formed from the intersection of three different ideologies: Pentecostalism, New Thought, and “an American gospel of pragmatism, individualism, and upward mobility”.

Prosperity theology is a religious belief among some Protestant Christians that financial blessing and physical well-being are always the will of God for them, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes will increase one’s material wealth.

Prosperity theology views the Bible as a contract between God and humans: if humans have faith in God, he will deliver security and prosperity

The focus on the prosperity gospel is material prosperity. Almost all prosperity gospel preachers will share similar concepts and use similar scriptural verses to preach wealth and health.

Prosperity gospel preachers use the law of compensation. Commonly quoted verses are Ecclesiastes 11:1, Mark 10:30, 2 Corinthians 9:6, Galatians 6:7. The focus on the prosperity gospel is material and money prosperity. Almost all prosperity gospel preachers will share similar concepts and use similar scriptural verses to preach wealth and health.

Christians are told to give to the church (not other organizations) generously because God will give them back more in return. This then results in a spiral of increasing prosperity for the General Overseers and their senior pastors.

Prosperity gospel sprang from new thought movement in US.

New thought began around 1895. It is not a church or a denomination. New thought has beliefs not found in the bible. The pioneers of new thought are Emmanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) and Phineas Quimby (1802-1866). The New Thought movement is a spiritual movement that developed in the United States in the 19th century, considered by many to have been derived from the unpublished writings of Phineas Quimby.

The New Thought Movement is a spiritually-focused or philosophical interpretation of New Thought beliefs developed in the 1800’s, mainly originating in the United States.

The movement also had roots in England where the term Higher Thought was often preferred. The rise of the New Thought Movement came as a result of the reaction of conscious thinking people during the middle of the 19th century who were revolting from the rigid religious doctrine, towards a blending of scientific and philosophical ideals.

The New Thought movement is generally considered to have its origins in the mental healing practices of Phineas Parkhurst Quimby and the transcendentalism of Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Essek William Kenyon (1867-1948) is the father of the modern prosperity gospel. He was the pastor of the New Covenant Baptist Church and founder and president of Bethel Bible Institute in Spencer, Massachusetts. He blended new thought with the bible. He is most famous for the prosperity gospel phrase “What I confess, I possess”

The hallmarks of prosperity gospel are wealth, health, and victory based on your faith. Your faith of prosperity gospel is to use God for your will, your appetite, and your desire.

Apostle Peter never preached prosperity gospel!

Apostle Paul never preached prosperity gospel!!

The Lord Jesus Christ never preached gospel!!!

Therefore beware of the prosperity gospel preachers!!!!

The errors of prosperity gospel have made the authority of men to become the truth. This contravenes the word of God because the Bible makes us understand that the authority of the word of God should be the truth; the authority of the word of God should be the supremacy; the authority of the word of God should be the ultimate; and the authority of the word of God should be the final. The authority of men is not Christianity as great men are not always wise but the authority of the word of God – Job 32:9 KJV “Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.”

The authority of men in prosperity gospel church oppresses the poor and puts them in bondage where nobody asks or questions the General Overseer for his error but the authority of the word of God makes people free – John  8:32 KJV “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

PROSPERITY GOSPEL IS ANOTHER GOSPEL THAT IS ACCURSED

In Christianity, truth is superior to the authority of men. The truth rules over the authority of men. The truth is the superior authority that removes chaos in any situation and circumstance, even in any society. The word of God is the supremacy in Christianity over the authority of the General Overseers and their senior pastors: Galatians 1: 6 – 9 KJV “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.   But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.   As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

The word of God is the ultimate truth: John 17:17 KJV “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” You may have many friends in life but let the truth which is the word of God (the Jesus Christ Himself) be your great friend. The word “another gospel” mentioned in Galatians 1:6 KJV symbolizes the doctrines of men.

The errors of prosperity gospel have introduced wrong doctrines and practices (into Christianity in Nigeria and Africa all over) that are not according to the word of God. In the New Testament, God does not put any Christian under the prosperity gospel . The reason is that the Lord Jesus Christ redeemed us from the laws of Moses. The General Overseers and their senior pastors who are preaching the prosperity gospel with the charge “bring your money for God to bless you”. This kind of charge is the abuse of the authority of the gospel  by the General Overseers and their senior pastors in the church which the word of God speaks against it: 1 Corinthians 9:17 – 18 KJV ” For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.  What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.”

Your giving must be from first the willing mind. And secondly from what you have which must not be under compulsion as the prosperity gospel pastors make giving of money tithes compulsory in the New Testament Covenant: 2 Corinthians 8:12 “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.”

Where in Nigerian church today, people are told to compulsorily bring their money tithes and offerings whether convenient or not, or you are asked to pay before you see the General Overseers  ( a day out with the pastor ) is the abuse of authority of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you don’t give from your willing mind and from only what you can afford from what you have, no reward for you from God: 1 Corinthians 9:17 KJV and 2 Corinthians 8:12 KJV “For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will…….For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.”

CREATION OF DISILLUSIONMENT AND CRISIS OF EXPECTATION.

Because of money, the prosperity gospel pastors /preachers create disillusionment for their church members which leads to the crisis of expectation. How? They teach their members that God will give them whatever they wish from Heaven and even use Scriptures to wrongly  back it up like “your expectations shall not be cut off”,  “the desires of your hearts are what God of Heaven will bring to pass” and “ask it shall be given unto you”: Proverbs  23:18 KJV ,  Psalms  37:4 KJV and  Matthew  7:7 KJV “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off….Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart… Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

When God does not answer our wishes, then comes crisis of understanding because the members have been taught to idolize their expectations / desires.  What the Bible teaches us is that when we delight our genuinely in the Lord God by pleasing Him always as we live the life of righteousness and holiness  and we pray according to His will for our individual lives and back up by playing our own roles with actions like hard work, diligence, integrity, etc, then God will answer our prayers according to His will  ( not according to our own will ) in line with His purpose for our individual lives  in His own time  ( not our time) : James  4:3 KJV ,  1 John  5:14 KJV and Ecclesiastes  3:11 KJV  “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts…  And this is the confidence that we have in him (God), that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us…He ( God) hath made every thing beautiful in his time..”

You cannot use money to purchase your own will – Acts 8:20 KJV “But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”

Fake Christianity is prosperity gospel where Christianity can be bought and sold for money: Fake Christianity is where the gospel is merchandised. Fake Christianity is where Christians are living in extreme poverty with high level of their fasting and prayer while their pastors who are the richest and wealthiest pastors in the world live in luxury, affluence, opulence, etc. Fake Christianity is false Christianity that has its foundation in money! Money!!Money!!!
