HOW DID THE GOSPEL TRANSIT FROM PETER TO PAUL FOR THE GENTILES?  ROMANS 11:13 KJV

Romans 11:13 KJV

”For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:”

The Lord Jesus Christ revealed to Paul that the mystery of the body of Christ is Church. And the church started with the Lord Jesus Christ as He is the One who died for the church.

The Lord Jesus Christ revealed the mystery of the gospel of salvation of how to be saved to Paul.

It was in Acts chapter 9 that Saul who became the Apostle Paul had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and the Jesus Christ chose, ordained him to be the apostle to the Gentiles – Acts 9:15 – 16 KJV ”But the Lord said unto him (a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias), Go thy way: for he (Paul) is a chosen vessel unto me (Jesus Christ), to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

Remember that when the Lord Jesus Christ revealed the mystery of the gospel of salvation to Paul, he (Paul) never went to any of the Apostles to get approval and confirmation of how to preach the mystery of the gospel of salvation to both the Jews first and mainly to the Gentiles.

For this point, let us read Galatians 1:1, 10 – 19 KJV “Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)..,,,For do I (Paul) now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen (Gentiles); immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.“

The main ministry and focus of the Apostle Paul is mostly to the Gentiles – He is the Apostle of the Gentiles: Romans 11:13 ”For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office.”

The mystery of the gospel of salvation of Christ Jesus was kept secret from the foundation of this world but was revealed to Paul by the Lord Jesus Christ –  Romans 16:25 KJV ”Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.”

God gave Paul the gospel of salvation to be preaching it. What is this gospel of salvation given to Paul by God? It is found in1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4 KJV

1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4 KJV  “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

This 1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4 KJV is the gospel of salvation revealed to Paul by God to be preaching to the people (the Jews first, and mostly to the Gentiles) for them to be saved.

This gospel of salvation is for the church, the body of Christ containing both the believing Jews and the Gentiles – that is, ONE church: the universal church worldwide of all the believing Jews and Gentiles under ONE umbrella of the church age ( one church of the body of Christ) – Matthew 16:18 KJV and John 10:16 KJV ”And I (Jesus Christ) say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it…. And other sheep (the believing Gentiles) I (Jesus Christ) have, which are not of this fold: them (the believing Gentiles) also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.“

The gospel of salvation revealed and given to the Apostle Paul by the Lord Jesus Christ is ONE church having both the born again Jews and Gentiles together as one body of Christ –  the born again Jewish Christians and the born again Gentile Christians as one body of Christ (the church). These Christians are saved by grace through faith in the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary – Galatians 3:28 KJV ”There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. “ Today body of Christ, the church is just ONE that is made up of the Jewish Christians and the Gentile Christians.

Peter the apostle later in his ministry had the understanding of the gospel of salvation given to Paul by Jesus Christ in ACT 15 11 and said that the manner the Gentiles are saved through the gospel of salvation given to the Apostle Paul is the same way the Jews should be saved in the church age . That is, to be saved by grace through faith.

Apostle Peter said now the way the Gentiles saved through the gospel of salvation given to Apostle Paul by the Lord Jesus Christ is the same way the Jews should be saved; that is someone is saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus – Acts 15:11 “But we ( the Jews) believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we (the Jews) shall be saved, even as they (the Jews).”

The Apostle Peter’s statement here in the above quote (ACTS 15:11) is completely different from his statement of what he said in his early ministry; from what he said in his first preaching to the Jews on how to be saved which included water baptism first before salvation in Acts 2:38 KJV

If you read further Acts 15:12, while addressing the church council at Jerusalem , Peter the apostle said people should listen to Paul in respect to the gospel of salvation the Lord Jesus Christ revealed and gave to him (apostle Paul) –  Acts 15:12 KJV ”Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.”

Now let us look at Acts 16:30 -31 to see how the gospel of salvation revealed and given to Paul by the Lord Jesus is just believe in the finished works of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary and you are saved :

Acts 16:30 – 31 KJV “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Now compare these two (2) questions asked and the answers given ”what must be done to be saved” when the Apostle Peter started his ministry in first sermon (preaching ) to the Jews in Acts 2:37 -38 and that of the Apostle Paul in Acts 16:30 -31 :

Acts 2:37 – 38 KJV “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Note that here, Peter said “repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ to be saved and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit “

Acts 16:31 ”And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.”
Note here that you just need to believe (in the finished works of Jesus Christ on cross – the sacrifice of His bloodshed at Calvary – the atonement of His blood that cleanses all sin) and you are saved! Then, Believer’s Water Baptism follows for any denominations that practice water baptism.

But it is not the water baptism that saves! What saves is the faith in the atonement of the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses all sin  – 1 John 1:7 KJV “….the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

You can now see the change (transition) from Acts 2:38 to Acts 16:31.

The book of Acts is a transitional book from the gospel of the Apostle Peter to the gospel of salvation that Lord Jesus Christ revealed and gave to the Apostle Paul to preach to the Gentiles.

WHO IS PAUL TO THE GENTILES?

Paul the Apostle is the Apostle of the Gentiles – Romans 11:13 ”For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:”

The apostle Paul is the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles to preach the gospel of salvation to the Gentiles : Romans 15:16 KJV “That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.”

The gospel of salvation given to Paul by our Lord Jesus Christ to preach to the Gentiles is 1 Corinthians 15: 1 – 4 KJV “1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4 KJV “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
