FOUR (4) TYPES OF GOSPEL IDENTIFIED IN THE BOOK OF THE NEW TESTAMENT – MATTHEW 16: 18 KJV
All the Christians are commanded by THE WORD OF GOD to search the scriptures and study them in order to rightly divide the word of truth ( the Bible) – John 5:39 KJV and 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV ”Search the scriptures…Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
But many Christians are not searching and studying the scriptures to rightly divide the Bible, the word of truth.
We are to rightly divide the Bible (scriptures) because there divisions in the Bible unless you will mix and mess up the word of God as prosperity gospel does. And this understanding will lead us to identify four (4) types of gospel in the book of the New Testament. And we shall know the right one for this church age which is the dispensation of the Gentiles.
Let us now start to divide: read Matthew 16:18 KJV “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
The first time the word “church” mentioned and appeared in the Bible, “The gates of hell” not the gate(singular) but gates (plural) of hell were mentioned and appeared in Matthew 16:18 KJV !!!
The reason is that “Church” is the body of Christ ( community of true Christian believers) and the gates of hell are always in opposition to the true Christian believers – Ephesians 6:12 KJV “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
The gates of hell are of principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places against the church. That is, against the true Christians worldwide.
But we (the church – the body of Christ – the Christians) have already overcome through the gospel of Jesus Christ, most especially the gospel of the Apostle Paul – through the doctrine of the Apostle Paul.
Do you know that nobody among the Old Testament saints was a Christian in the Old Testament dispensation? This is because in the Old Testament, the Lord Jesus Christ did not come to die for them.
What made us Christians is the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary!!!
You can never find the word “church” in the Old Testament!
Christianity, the great product of the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary is mystery revealed to the Apostle Paul by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself – Ephesians 3:3 – 4 KJV and Galatians 1:12 KJV “How that by revelation he (Jesus Christ) made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)…. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.“
The gospel for today is the gospel of the Apostle Paul purely for all Christians.
What is the gospel of the Apostle Paul?
The gospel of the Apostle Paul is the Lord Jesus Christ died, buried, resurrected and ascended to Heaven sitting down at the right hand of our Heavenly Father (God) – 1 Corinthians 15:1 -4 KJV “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:“
You can never find the word “gospel” in the Old Testament!
The gospel means the good news of the teaching or revelation of Jesus Christ
FOUR (4) TYPES OF GOSPEL IDENTIFIED
Four (4) types of gospel identified n the book of the New Testament:
(1) THE GOSPEL OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
Matthew 3:1 – 2 , 5 KJV “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand…..Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan.”
This gospel of John the Baptist was only for the Jews (the nation of Israel only)
(2) THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST DURING HIS EARTHLY MINISTRY
Matthew 4:17 KJV and Matthew 10 : 5 – 7 KJV “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand…These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.“
From above scripture, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry was also purely for the Jews (the nation of Israel only) – never for the Gentiles. This is because He (the Lord Jesus Chris) never died, buried and resurrected at this particular period of time. The time of Gentiles had not yet come then.
The Earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ is described as the minister (the Lord Jesus Christ) of the circumcision ( the Jews) – Romans 15:8 ”Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:”
(3) THE GOSPEL OF THE APOSTLE PETER
Galatians 2:7 – 8 KJV “But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision (Gentiles) was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision (Jews) was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:).”
Apostle Peter was present when the gospel was first introduced to the Gentiles — Cornelius in Acts 10. But by searching and studying the scriptures to rightly divide them, this was not Peter’s primary mission field – read and study Galatians 2:7 – 8 KJV “But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:).”
The gospel of Apostle Peter was for the Jews (the nation of Israel only) – the circumcision : Galatians 2:9 KJV “And when James, Cephas (Apostle Peter), and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me (Apostle Paul), they gave to me ( Apostle Paul) and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen (Gentiles ) and they (James, Cephas (Apostle Peter), and John) unto the circumcision.”
Peter’s primary mission field remained to the Jews in Jerusalem, the church headquarters. The book of Acts is a transitional book where the gospel of preaching Jesus Christ changed from the Apostle Peter to the Apostle Paul to be the Apostle (Paul) to the Gentiles.
(4) THE GOSPEL OF THE APOSTLE PAUL
Romans 11:13 KJV “For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:”
According to the above scripture, the gospel of the Apostle Paul is primarily Gentiles. The doctrines of the Apostle Paul are primarily to the Gentiles, the church age.
Please read this scripture once again: Galatians 2:7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
Galatians 2:8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
Galatians 2:9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

- The gospel of John the Baptist
It is only focused on the identity of Jesus – Who Jesus Christ is – the “WHO”’of Jesus – Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.“
- THE GOSPEL OF PETER
It is only focused on the identity of Jesus – Who Jesus Christ is – the “WHO”‘ of Jesus – Matthew 16:15 – 17 KJV “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.“

- but THE GOSPEL OF PAUL
BUT the gospel of Paul focused on the finished works of our Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary – What Jesus Christ did for us – the “WHAT” of Jesus Christ, the complete works for every true Christian believer to appreciate the finished works of the Lord Jesus Christ – the finished works made us to know who we are in Christ Jesus : Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
