EVERY CHRISTIAN: 4 Most Important Things Required To Discover Yourself After Salvation
Where you are going to spend your eternity is the most crucial in life.
Salvation of your soul is first and primary in the kingdom of God.
Salvation is the greatest value of your life.
Your soul matters more than anything else you have in life because God breathed your soul into you – Genesis 2:7 KJV “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
This breath of life made man different from the animals. Before the breath of life was breathed into man by God, the man of the dust formed by God is just thehuman body – without the breath of life which is the living soul in man, man is just like animals.
The only thing the animals don’t have is the living soul (God’s breath of life) because animals have both the body and the spirit. The animals having the spirit is mentioned in Ecclesiastes 3:21 KJV “Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?” When the breath of life of God is deleted from man, man behaves exactly like an animal!
God breathes life (the breath of life) into the nostrils of man of the dust and this makes Adam (man) different from the animals. Man is more than a body. Adam (Man) is a living soul. This soul has capacity to know and understand God – the soul can have and enjoy a good relationship with God. This soul also has capacity of sinning against God, something the animals cannot do as animals do not have any soul.
The soul is real you. The soul has four (4) senses: (1) mind (2) will power (3) feeling and (4) desire. Your soul is the most important of real you. It is your soul that will either go to Heaven or hell because it is real you.
This is the reason why the Lord Jesus Christ referred to soul (not the spirit) as the one to go to either hell or Heaven. He (Jesus Christ) said that what does it profit a man to lose his own soul – it is neither body nor spirit but soul – to lose his own soul and gain the whole world ( be the richest and wealthiest person on earth but ended in hell!) : Matthew 16:26 KJV “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” You can see for yourself, soul is mentioned (never the spirit).
Dust (human body) will go back to the dust (buried in the ground, decayed and turned to the dust) while the spirit (whether born again or not) goes back to God – Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
The reason why all the spirits (whether born again or not) will go back to God is because God is the owner of all the spirits – He created all the spirits – all the spirits came from Him – and He is the God of the spirits of all flesh and the Father of the spirits: Numbers 16:22 KJV and.Hebrews 12:9 KJV “…..O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh…..the Father of spirits…”
Soul does not die!!!
Satan has capacity to kill the human body but not the soul – this is because soul is the property of God as God is eternal, so soul is also eternal. Soul cannot be killed – and soul cannot die but God can put it (the soul) in the everlasting fire ( hell/lake of fire) for eternity ( life without end in the lake of fire) – God can destroy the soul with the lake of fire for eternity (everlasting): Matthew 10:28 KJV “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
The soul that sins without genuine repentance before leaving this world, that is, without accepting Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Saviour shall spiritually die and end up in hell – Ezekiel 18:4 KJV “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
Going to hell and ending up in the everlasting fire is by choice for every single soul – the choice of choosing between life and death is a personal responsibility of every single soul: Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV and Jeremiah 21:8 KJV “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live….And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.”
From the above quote, the way of life is accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour for the reason that Jesus Christ is the way and the life – John 14:6 KJV “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Still on Jeremiah 21:8 quoted above, the way of death is the soul by choice going to and ending up in everlasting fire prepared for Satan and his angels. God did not create everlasting fire for souls except by choice; the soul that decides and chooses to join Satan and his angels in the everlasting fire when such a soul refuses to accept Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Saviour – Matthew 25:41 KJV “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:.” You can see for yourself from this scripture that everlasting fire is prepared for the devil (Satan) and his angels but any single soul can choose to go there to join Satan and his angels in everlasting fire for eternity!
When you are genuinely born again, your spirit is regenerated; your spirit becomes alive in Christ Jesus and you are sealed with the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 1:13 KJV “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” That is, your salvation is sealed with the Holy Spirit when your spirit is alive in Christ Jesus by being genuinely born again in Christ Jesus.
Please, do not forget that your soul is never born again – what is born again is your spirit which now takes over the activities of the soul by the word of God. This is the reason why you must renew your mind everyday with the word of God because the word of God is spirit which will be implanted in your soul to help you live a constant holy life – James 1:21 KJV “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” The phrase “the engrafted word” means “the implanted word” of God while “able to save your souls” means “the word of God will take over and control the activities of your soul” Read also Psalms 139: 9, 11 KJV “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word…Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
God is the Spirit – John 4:24 KJV “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
As God is the Spirit, therefore God uses His word to interact with your spirit as the word of God is spirit – John 6:63 KJV “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” Your soul must live by the word of God to enjoy and to have a personal walk and intimate relationship with God.
How to be genuinely born again is very simple; just believe in your heart the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ – just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you are saved: Acts 16:31 KJV “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
Now after choosing the way of life by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, that is, you are genuinely born again, then there are four (4) most important things required to discover yourself after salvation. They are:
(1) Where are you to worship?
(2) Who are you? What you are created for (your purpose in life)
(3) Where are you? Your place of destiny
(4) Who are you to marry as your spouse?
(1) WHERE TO WORSHIP – your church?
Since you are genuinely born again now, you need to grow spiritually. You need to grow from being a baby Christian (a new convert) into the mature Christian believer. And what you need most is undiluted, pure word of God.
God gives us command that we (the genuinely born again Christians) should not forsake the assembly of brethren – Hebrews 10:25 KJV “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Thus, you need a true Bible believing church where the word of God is being thoroughly taught and practiced – teaching and practicing the sound doctrine of the word of God.
You cannot attend just any church, just any Bible believing church! There is no perfect church here on earth. Therefore you need a divine guidance to know the right church to be regularly worshipping. This means you need a genuinely born again pastor (the wise and faithful pastor). You need a true pastor who will help you grow and develop your personal walk and intimate relationship with God. You need a genuine pastor who will help you know God yourself more than knowing the pastor himself.
You don’t need a pastor who will become a medium or middleman between you and God because the Lord Jesus Christ is the only one mediator between God and man – you can access God direct through only our Lord Jesus Christ (the mediator): 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” You need a genuine pastor who will help you discover your destiny and empower you to fulfill your God’s ordained purpose in life.
How would get this type of wise and faithful pastor? How would you get a true pastor who will lead you to Heaven at last? How would you have a real pastor who will be teaching you the dictates of Jesus Christ – following and practicing of the teaching and life of Jesus Christ?
Thank God! God knew all these things before you give your life to Jesus Christ, therefore He promised to give you a true pastor according to His heart in Jeremiah 3:15 KJV “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” God said He would give you genuine pastor who will be feeding you with knowledge and understanding – not with miracles, signs and wonders, although miracles, signs and wonders are good but they are the benefits of Christianity. Without the word of God rooted in your heart, you can never sustain miracles, signs and wonders if you by the mercy of God receive these benefits of Christianity.
You need a genuine pastor who will be feeding you with knowledge and understanding of the word of God because miracles, signs and wonders are to follow every genuinely born again Christian (not only genuinely born again pastors) : Mark 16:17-18 KJV “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Please read this scripture again (verse 17): “And these signs shall follow them that believe…” – it did not say these signs shall follow the pastors that believe BUT them (any genuinely born again Christians).
So, according to Jeremiah 3:15 KJV quoted above, only what you need to do is to ask God in prayer to lead and direct you to a very good church who will be feeding you with knowledge and understanding of the word of God. And He will surely answer you because He is highly interested in your spiritual life more than anything else as the spiritual controls the physical.
You need a genuine pastor who will make Jesus Christ the standard not himself/any General Overseer in your Christian life because you are to look unto the Lord Jesus Christ ( not pastor/General Overseer) as author and finisher of your faith – Hebrews 12:2 KJV “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith….”
You must avoid a charlatan pastor. You must avoid a bad pastor. But pray that God should give you a wise and faithful pastor.
(2) WHO ARE YOU?
Who are you? What are you created for? What is your purpose in life? What is your divine purpose for living? What are you living for? How would you become exactly what God has purposed/destined for your life? God will only support you and give you all the resources needed to accomplish His divine assignment in your life – He will not support you; neither will He give you all the resources needed nor help you to accomplish what He has not called you or asked you to do on earth.
Once you are genuinely born again, you need to go to your Creator (the Almighty God) and ask Him, His purpose (the purpose of God) for your life.
The richest place in the world is the human mind while the wealthiest place on earth is graveyard/cemetery/bury ground! Where many failed to discover, recover and accomplish their divine purposes in life – many died without knowing and fulfilling their divine assignments in life – they died with their talents and gifts! You need to ask this question: Who am I? That is, God what did you create me for? What is the problem(s) You (God) want me to solve for humanity?
God has never created any useless individuals. The reason why you must ask God is because He is the One Who created you for a purpose, even before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He had decided what you will be ( His purpose for your life) – Jeremiah 1:5 KJV “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
If God destined you to be an evangelist but you end up to become the president of your country, to the people, that is a great achievement but to God, you are a complete failure because when you get to Heaven, God will ask you the number of souls you are to win for Him. So ask God for the reason He created you by what you are destined to accomplish on earth.
No matter you age , you can still ask Him and He will tell you – Matthew 7:7 KJV and Psalms 65:2 KJV “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you…O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.”
Now, your age does not matter to discover the purpose of God for your life – Abraham was 75 years old when he discovered the purpose of God for his life while Moses was 80 years old when he discovered the purpose of God for his life: Genesis 12:4 KJV and Exodus 7:7 KJV “So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran…..And Moses was fourscore years old…..”
When the Apostle Paul had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ after his salvation, he (Paul) asked the Lord Jesus Christ the divine purpose for his life – and the Lord Jesus Christ told him: Acts 9:6 KJV “And he (Apostle Paul) trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.”
So after your salvation, ask God the same question that Apostle Paul asked Him to know the purpose of God for your life: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”
(3) WHERE ARE YOU?
Where are you? This question talks about your place of destiny – your place of manifestation. It talks about your area or sphere of influence in life.
There is a particular place God wants you to be situated or located in life. You cannot just decide to be at anywhere you like or love. There is a particular place for you by God to fulfill your destiny in life.
There is a question for every genuinely born again Christian that God will ask us individually as He asked Adam in the Garden of Eden: Genesis 3:9 KJV “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?”
God is going to ask you this critical question “Where art thou?” You need to ask God “where is your place of destiny in order to manifest your destiny in life?” You know that when God created it Adam, He put him in the Garden of Eden (Adam’s place of manifestation of his destiny) – Genesis 2:8, 15 KJV “And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man (Adam) whom he had formed…And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.”
When Abraham had a personal encounter with God, God revealed to him the place of destiny where to manifest – Genesis 12:1 KJV “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” The land that God shew him is the place of his destiny. So, you need to ask God where is your place of destiny in order to manifest because the earnest expectation of the creation is waiting for the manifestation of the children of God: Romans 8:19 KJV “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
God told Isaac not to go to the place he decided on his own to live because he would never manifest the divine purpose of God for his life there – he would just be struggling with life if he failed to yeild to God”s instruction on where to manifest his destiny: Genesis 26:1-6 KJV “And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:”
God asked the prophet Elijah twice this question in this form when he was where God did not design him to be at a place “what are you doing here in this place, Elijah – What doest thou here, Elijah? ” – 1 king 19:9,13 KJV “And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord [came] to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?….. nd it was [so], when Elijah heard [it], that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?” Elijah the prophet was at a wrong place (wrong location) where the purpose of God for his life would never be accomplished/fulfilled at this particular point in time of his walk with God.
When God wants to help man, He (God) will not come down physically but He will use people at the designated place of your destiny because nobody has seen God physically before: 1 John 4:12 KJV and 1 Timothy 6:16 KJV “No man hath seen God at any time… Who (God) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”
God will only send destiny helper(s)/pusher(s) to the designated place He has destined you to be. If you were at the wrong place, your destiny helper(s)/pusher(s) would never locate. So after salvation, ask God for your designated place of destiny in life where to manifest the purpose of God in your Christian life to humanity.
(4) WHO TO MARRY AS YOUR SPOUSE?
Who to marry as your spouse? This is particularly for those who are yet to marry. This is very important question that talks about your spouse.
Whoever you marry in life whether you like it or not, such a spouse will surely affect your destiny in life negatively or positively! If you marry wrong person, at the end, you will have an unfulfilled destiny but if it is the right spouse you marry, you will surely have a fulfilled destiny – you will finish well, you will finish strong with the right spouse.
And no matter how long you live with your parents before you get married, you will live much longer than that;; you are going to live with your spouse for the rest of your life.
Living with your spouse until the death do you part is the true Christian marriage. Therefore, after salvation, if you are at the marriageable age, ask God for the right spouse in order to have a fulfilled destiny; to support you with everything to accomplish/fulfill your God-ordained destiny in life.
However if you had already married before your salvation, and you discovered that you married a wrong spouse, you don’t need to divorce or regret about it because the time of ignorance God overlooks as you married before your personal encounter (salvation) with the Lord Jesus Christ – Acts 17:30 KJV “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”
All what you need to do is to let God know that you were married before your salvation, although God knows – and then carry your marriage, take your spouse to Him (God) because God has not created anybody He cannot control. God will work on the heart of your spouse for good: Proverbs 21:1 KJV and Ezekiel 36:26 KJV “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will… A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? This is a critical question according to Psalms 11:3 KJV “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” The righteous means the genuinely born again Christians.
Thank God, the answer to this question of Psalms 11:3 KJV is provided in Proverbs 18:10 KJV “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
If the foundation of your marriage is faulty as a result of you married before your salvation, just carry your spouse – take your marriage to God and He will fix it for you.
For the unmarried who are genuinely born again (the mature Christian singles), you must ask God to help you concerning who to marry as your spouse (genuinely born again Christian). And God will surely do it for you.
After your salvation, if you refuse to involve God in choosing the right spouse for you, you will live to regret it for the rest of your life. And if you are praying for your wrong spouse to die so that you can marry another person, God will not answer your prayer because He (God) is not a murderer. You know that you cannot remarry once you divorce while your divorced spouse is still alive; you can only remarry once your divorced spouse dies.
Let me help you with the scriptures to use while trusting God for the right spouse:
For a Christian brother trusting God for the a Christian sister as a Christian wife:
Proverbs 19:14 KJV “House and riches are the inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the LORD.”
Proverbs 18:22 KJV ‘Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”
Then, the scriptures to use for a Christian sister trusting God for the Christian brother as a Christian husband:
Proverbs 28:20 KJV “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” ASK GOD IN PRAYER TO GIVE YOU A FAITHFUL MAN – a Christian husband who will be faithful to you in everything.
General: 1 Corinthians 7:2 KJV “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” THAT IS, ASK GOD FOR YOUR OWN SPOUSE.
After salvation, the unmarried who are genuinely born again (mature Christian singles) and end up marrying wrong spouses, that wrong spouses will surely destroy destiny them because wrong spouses never give rest – Micah 2:10 KJV “Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.”
