‘Prosperity gospel destroys because in prosperity gospel, the gospel is for sale (money-making business) while in the gospel of the kingdom of God; it is all about discipleship that builds as the gospel is not for sale in the kingdom of God ’

Matthew 10:7-8 KJV

“And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

How do you avoid the excesses of the prosperity gospel preachers/pastorpreneurs/priestcrafts?

  • Expose their activities publicly (Ephesians 5:11 NKJV)
  • Their gospel of “bring your money to receive God’s blessings” speaks not according to Matthew 10: 7-8 KJV and therefore there is no light in them.

Read and study Ephesians 5:11 KJV and Isaiah 8:10 KJV

Isaiah 8:20 KJV

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them”.

Ephesians 5:11 NKJV

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”

What do you understand by the word “Priestcrafts”? Priestcrafts are that men preach the gospel for money. All their activities are for the main purpose of material and financial gains. They labor to build their personal aggrandizement or reward. In the name of the gospel, they “make merchandise” of men’s souls.  They turn religion into a business, and pride, materialism, and money.

What do you understand by the word “pastorpreneurs”? An entrepreneur who sets up churches as a business venture.

Have this understanding at the back of your mind that prosperity gospel is all about gospel of money for blessing, that is, the gospel is for sale.

Prosperity gospel flourishes in Africa, most especially Nigeria. Nigerian pastors are exporting this prosperity gospel fast to other African countries.

There are excesses of prosperity gospel in Nigerian churches. The prosperity gospel ministers are progressing in error with prosperity gospel. The prosperity gospel preachers are MONEY preachers overtaken by the god of mammon.

I believe genuine men of God who have fallen unknowingly/ignorantly into doctrinal error(s) by the prosperity gospel will correct themselves and change just like Evangelist/Pastor Benny Hinn.

Benny Hinn, televangelist faith healer and prosperity preacher, renounced the prosperity gospel. Benny Hinn has a new outlook on this teaching now and says the gospel is not for sale.

The Nigerian pastors who are prosperity gospel ministers have incorporated man doctrines into Christianity in Nigeria and Africa at large with the primary intention of getting money from church members.

Then the question: how can you avoid the excesses of prosperity gospel?

The answer is by changing your focus. Who is behind the excesses of prosperity gospel? I meant the spiritual force behind it. Of course, it is god of mammon. Prosperity gospel (the gospel of money for blessing) cannot be separated from god of mammon.

Prosperity gospel and god of mammon – it is the god of mammon that is behind the excesses of prosperity gospel. There are dangers associated with the excesses of prosperity gospel. It is your responsibility to save yourself from the excesses of prosperity gospel.

The prosperity gospel ministers always end the sermons with financial and material requests.

Prosperity gospel is the gospel of extortion, to scam the church members of their hard-earned money.

The prosperity gospel ministers twist, distort and manipulate the true Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ (Bible – the word of God). They promise their church members prosperity and the members get poorer by the day!

They break their hearts when the promise of prosperity is not fulfilled.

They promise them miracles but their conditions get worse every day.

There is no hope at all in the excesses of the prosperity gospel because it is not from God – Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them”.

The prosperity gospel preachers give average church members false hope, which produces misfortune.

Why is it that with this prosperity gospel, there is never a campaign for hard work but rather prayer and sowing of seed faith (money seed) – just serve God, go to church always and be a faithful Christian without hard work, Nigeria is still the extreme poverty capital of the world?

How come African continent is the poorest continent in the world despite the excesses of prosperity gospel in African churches where the Christians serve God faithfully?

This is not the true gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. God will never back up something like that because He (God) is not a magician. The first commandment God gave man (Adam) is to work (hard work) to dress the garden. God expected Adam to work or labor from morning till evening and that is the reason why God used to visit Adam in the cool of the day (evening) in the book of Genesis 3:8 “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.”

The message of prosperity gospel is disillusionment (disappointment).

The prosperity gospel is a wrong gospel because in Nigeria, the Pentecostal Christians pray more, fast more than any other country in the world, yet Nigeria is the headquarters of extreme poverty in the world!!!

With more fasting and prayer, Nigeria ought to be the richest, wealthiest and most developed and advanced country in the world.  But it is not so because the majority of the big pastors and the great GOs are prosperity gospel preachers.

The excesses of prosperity gospel are wrong. The prosperity gospel is not from God but god of mammon – there is no light ,and there is no divine life in it: Isaiah 8:20 and John 6:63 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them……. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I (Jesus Christ) speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

By the reason of the prosperity gospel and its social impact, Nigeria is the poorest of the poor!

Before the advent of prosperity gospel in Nigeria around late 70s or early 80s, Nigeria was rich and not poor – Nigeria was ahead of Malaysia Thailand, Indonesia, etc. Nigerian currency (Naira) was one USD dollar – one naira but since the arrival of the prosperity gospel in Nigeria, Nigeria is becoming poorer and poorer every day!

The only people who are getting richer and wealthier every day are the preachers of the prosperity gospel – the GOs and their senior pastors – even the GOs have private jets!!

The poorest congregations are producing the richest and wealthiest pastors in the world!!!

Before the arrival of prosperity gospel in Nigeria, Nigerian Christians were honest, transparent, trustworthy, hardworking, and they lived holy life to the extent that the financial institutions (banks) came to the church to recruit their staff!  But these good qualities of the church before the arrival of the prosperity gospel have become history – they are gone.

These are the damages that the prosperity gospel has done to Nigeria. The prosperity gospel pastors preach “SMART” work instead of the virtues of hard work, and as a result of this, many Christians in Nigeria, especially the teenagers and the youths engage in all manners of fraudulent practices.

Instant gratification message is the area of specialization of Nigerian prosperity gospel pastors. And this leads to financial and material fraud/scam, internet money fraud/scam, corruption, get rich quick syndrome/schemes, evil short cut to riches and wealth, etc without the principles of dignity of labor and hard work in the society.

If you study your Bible with revelation knowledge and understanding by the help of the Holy Spirit, you will discover and understand that you don’t need to serve God before you are rich and wealthy. This is because the Almighty God has already created for humanity the principles that will make anybody rich and wealthy if he or she understands the principles and applies them – you don’t need to be a Christian, even born again Christian before you are rich and wealthy.

What the Church needs to do is to train their church members on skills that based on the principles that bring prosperity through hard work, diligence, faithfulness at work, research and development in the field of interest, honesty, transparency, integrity, virtues, accountability, etc.

Prosperity gospel preachers only preach pray, fast, sow money seed/seed faith, give tithes and offering without the free skill acquisition training and empowerment for the church members to come out of the bondage of poverty.

They preach “name it and claim it” gospel.

It is principles that God had already created for humanity that build any nation (not prayer, fasting and sowing of money seed/seed faith in monetary value) – it is never fasting and prayer because prayer will never cook rice in your kitchen.

It is like a genuinely born again Christian who is in school as a student, and he or she is not reading and studying hard his books but only fasting and praying for good success in an examination, automatically and surely such a student will fail because God has already created the principles of reading and studying hard for good success in exams.

Stop deceiving yourself, stop sleeping in the church, go and work in accordance with the principles that promote the power to get wealth.

The day the children of Israel entered the Promised Land, manna ceased because it was time for them to work (not fasting and prayer with sowing money seed/faith seed) – Joshua 5:12: “And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna anymore; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.”
