Do you know apart from the law of Moses of the Old Testament, there is also the law of Christ in the Bible? And there is a clear and distinct difference between the two.

Malachi 4:4 KJV “Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.”

The law of Moses is for all Israel in the Old Testament. This Law of Moses can be called “the ceremonial law” or  “the law of nation of all Israel”. It can also be termed “the law of morality”.

The law of Moses was fully active  and in operation during the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ – Luke 2:21-22  KJV “And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord.”

The law of Moses ended with the Lord Jesus Christ for righteousness – and the New Testament started after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ – John 1:17 KJV and Romans 10:4 KJV ”For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ….For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

This Law of Moses is not for the Gentiles – Romans 2:12 -14 KJV “For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves.” In the Bible days, that is, the Old Testament Times, the law of Moses was not for the Gentiles. The law of Moses is only for all Israel in the Old Testament.

This law of Moses is fulfilled in Christ Jesus for the Jews in the New Testament: Matthew 5:17  KJV “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”

The New Testament started with death and resurrection of Jesus Christ – Hebrews 9:14-18  KJV “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

And for this cause he (Jesus Christ) is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.”

Please read verses 14 – 16 again!

Galatians 6:2 KJV “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

The law of Christ is all about the love of God for humanity – John 3:16  KJV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The law of Christ is the pure demonstration and expression of the love of God in Christ Jesus for all the sinners in the world by which Christ came to reconcile them (the world – sinners) back to Himself (God) – Romans 5:8 KJV “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

The Lord Jesus Christ gave us His law by love in John 13:34-35 KJV and  John 15:12 KJV “A new commandment I (Jesus Christ) give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”

The law of Christ is the love of God as God is love – 1 John 4:8, 16 KJV  “1 John 4:8, 16 KJV “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

This law of Christ is a behavioral law – love is action – never an emotion!

The law of Christ is not an emotion but an action because the emotional love is attached to soul but the love action is attached to the spirit. And since God is love, He (God) is a spirit – the love of God is of the Spirit, even the first component of the fruit of the Spirit is love – John 4:24 KJV and Galatians 5:22 KJV “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth….the fruit of the Spirit is love….”

The law of Christ by the action of love says you must love your enemies but emotional love loves only those who love you; and hates your enemies: Matthew 5:44 KJV “But I (Jesus Christ) say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

Never you forget that through the Lord Jesus Christ, God first loved us before we love Him – 1 John 4:19 KJV “We love him (God), because he first loved us.” As sinners before we were born again, we were all the enemies of God as a result of sin but He still first loved us.
