CORRECTION TO THE WRONG INTERPRETATION AND MISAPPLICATION OF HEBREWS 7:7 (KJV) BY THE PROSPERITY GOSPEL PASTORS

Hebrews 7:7 (KJV) “And without all contradiction, the less is blessed of the better.”

The prosperity gospel pastors in Africa, especially in Nigeria, always give the wrong interpretation and misapplication of HEBREWS 7:7 by saying that it is the less (the poor) who are supposed to give (bless) the better (the rich/pastor) whereas that is not what HEBREWS 7: 7 is saying.

What HEBREWS 7: 7 is exactly is that the better should bless the less in the kingdom of God. For better understanding, let us look at some other translations:

HEBREWS 7: 7 CJB “and it is beyond all dispute that the one who blesses has higher status than the one who receives the blessing.”

HEBREWS 7: 7  CEV “Everyone agrees that a person who gives a blessing is greater than the one who receives the blessing.”

HEBREWS 7: 7  ERV “And everyone knows that the more important person always blesses the less important person”

HEBREWS 7: 7  NLT “And without question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed”

From the above translations, you can see for yourself that it is the better (higher status/high profile individuals including pastors) who should give (bless) the less (the poor – orphans, widows, destitute, strangers, homeless, etc.).

But in Africa/Nigeria, the prosperity pastors are collecting from the poor instead of them to be giving to them (the poor) as indicated in the Scripture (HEBREWS 7:7).

In the Old Testament, this is the reason why all the categories of these people (the orphans, widows, destitute, strangers, homeless, etc.) don’t pay tithes because the tithes are meant for them by God to take care of them.

In the Old Testament, the more important person always blesses the less important person – the reason for the year of Jubilee where the better (higher status/high profile individuals) in Israel would write off the debts of the poor (debt forgiveness for the poor) and also bless him as well! God instituted this in the Old Testament System in the Bible for the poor to be blessed by the better. Hope the Nigerian churches have not lost humanity in them!

In Nigerian church, giving to God is giving to the pastors; it is not giving to the widows, orphans, the poor, and the needy. But giving to God in the Bible is giving to the poor and the needy:  Matthew 25: 41 – 46 (NKJV) “Then He (Jesus Christ) will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me (Jesus Christ), you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I (Jesus Christ) was hungry and you gave Me (Jesus Christ) no food; I (Jesus Christ) was thirsty and you gave Me (Jesus Christ) no drink; I (Jesus Christ) was a stranger and you did not take Me (Jesus Christ) in, naked and you did not clothe Me (Jesus Christ), sick and in prison and you did not visit Me (Jesus Christ). ’Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He (Jesus Christ) will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I (Jesus Christ) say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me (Jesus Christ).’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

In this Matthew 25: 41 – 46, the Lord Jesus Christ said that when you give to the categories of the persons mentioned in this scripture, you have given to Him. And many church members are having this slave of the mind to the pastors and manipulation amounting to brainwashing that when they give to the pastors, they are giving to God!

Being a tither in most Nigerian churches which means when they give their tithes to the pastors only, they give to God!! But tithe is one tenth of annual produce or earnings, formerly taken as a tax for the support of and meeting the needs of both the Church and clergy (pastor) in the kingdom of God.

To study in details for a better understanding, at Amazon (KDP), read for free my book (“Money Never Paid As Tithes In The Bible Unless Redeemed: What My Pastor Has Never Told Me Concerning Money Paid As Tithes”) for further knowledge on the absolute truth on doctrine of tithing (tithes) .
