2 Keys Jesus Gave To Peter: (1) One For The Jews And (2) One For The Gentiles – Matthew 16:19 KJV

How Peter preached Salvation to the Gentiles is different from the Jews using 2 keys – Acts 10: 43 KJV & Acts 2:38 KJV

The Lord Jesus Christ gave two (2) keys to Peter:
(1) one key (the first key) for the Jews (the nation of Israel)
(2) the other key (the second key) for the Gentiles.

Let us read Matthew 16:19 KJV  ”And I (Jesus Christ) will give unto thee (Peter) the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

When Peter the Apostle was preaching to the Jews, this is what he said in Acts 2:38 ”Then Peter said unto them (the Jews), Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” This is the first key to the Jews. Water Baptism as precondition (requirement)) for the Jews to be saved is attached to salvation.

But When the same Apostle Peter preached to the Gentiles, this is what he said in
Acts 10:43 “….that through his name (Jesus Name) whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.” This is the second key to the Gentiles. Water Baptism as precondition (requirement)) for the Gentiles to be saved is NOT attached. Water baptism (Believer’s Water Baptism) comes after any Gentile is saved.

The first Gentile that Apostle Peter preached to is Cornelius –  Acts 10:1 “There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band.”

Now let us read Acts 10:43 – 48 KJV “. ….that through his name (Jesus Name) whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision (the Jews) which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”

He (Peter) preached to the Gentiles that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins, after believing ( having faith) in the Name of Jesus Christ, such a person (the Gentiles) shall be saved, then Believer’s Water Baptism follows as in Acts 10:46 – 47.

This is just exactly the way Philip preached to the first Gentile to get saved in the Bible. The first Gentile to be saved in the New Testament is an Ethiopian eunuch . This Gentile was saved by ”WHAT” Jesus Christ did on the cross in line with the gospel of salvation of the Apostle Paul – and  then after, Believer’s Baptism was done for the Ethiopian eunuch  Acts 8:37 -38 KJV “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

The gospel changed from the Jews in trusting or believing in the name of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles in trusting or believing in the finished works of Jesus Christ or having faith in the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the Cross, that is, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the Calvary – the atonement of the blood of Jesus Christ for our sins.

In Acts 2:38, how did they (the Jews ) save? They had to believe in the Names of Jesus Christ, repent, be baptized and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This gospel preached here to the Jews is by Peter – and it is water baptism BEFORE salvation . The gift of the Holy Spirit is to come by water baptism.

In Acts 10:43 -46, how did they (the Gentiles save? They have to believe/ trust/ have faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and afterwards, be baptized with water. This gospel preached here to the Gentiles is also by the same Peter but there is a change. It is water baptism AFTER salvation.

The change from believing in the Name of Jesus ( who of Jesus) by the Jews to believing, trusting or having faith in the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross, the atonement of the blood of Jesus Christ at the Calvary ( what of Jesus) by the Gentiles.

Even the experience of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit came upon the Gentiles the moment they believed and saved before they undergo water baptism! Water baptism is after salvation. This is salvation by faith. The gift of the Holy Spirit came before water baptism. I believe you can see the change now.

In Acts Chapter eleven (11) , Peter the apostle remembered that the Lord Jesus Christ told them (the apostles) that they would baptize with the Holy Spirit (not water) when He (Jesus) was going back to Heaven after His resurrection from dead – Acts 11:16 “Then remembered I (Peter) the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.“

See what Peter said later in Acts Chapter 15 that we are saved by FAITH (not by water baptism as he (Peter) mentioned in Acts 2:38 where he used the first key (number one key of the kingdom of Heaven ) for the Jews) –  Acts 15:7 – 9 KJV ”And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.“ That is, we are saved by faith in the finished works of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross at the Calvary – faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins – faith in the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross – faith in the atonement of the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses from all sin: 1 John 1:7 KJV “….the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

See further what Peter the apostle said in Acts 15:11 “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. (the Gentiles)” This is a complete change from the gospel of Acts 2:38 to the gospel of salvation by faith for the Gentiles ( the second key of the Kingdom of Heaven given to Peter by Jesus in Matthew 16:19).
